Mission Statement:

The South Portland High School Dollars for Scholars is a community based initiative committed to facilitating access to higher education by providing scholarship assistance to all qualified South Portland High School graduates.

Who We Are:

South Portland High School (Maine) Dollars for Scholars has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors to assist with their post-secondary educations since June 2008. Each year we have increased the number of students who receive awards and the amount of the award. Our long term goal is to give each graduating SPHS senior $2,000 for each of their first two years of post-secondary education. We work toward this goal by raising endowment funds through our community businesses and individuals. To ensure fiscal responsibility for the program we work with Saco and Biddeford Savings Bank and the National Dollars for Scholars advisors.

Our entirely volunteer board meets on a monthly basis to develop, evaluate and execute our fundraising program and plan our scholarship distributions. We are actively growing our support base and welcome any community members to join us. Our next meeting for the 2015-2016 school year will be held at Otto's Pizza on Cottage St on February 23, 2016 at 5:30pm. Please feel free to join us.
